Information Design and Strategy, MS Learning Design Specialization
The Learning Design Specialization equips students to create effective, inclusive learning experiences across diverse environments. Grounded in foundational learning theories, including adult education, and Universal Design for Learning, students explore instructional design models, learning environments, and educational technologies. The curriculum blends theory with hands-on practice, guiding students to design learning experiences that engage and motivate learners. Emphasis is placed on designing for both formal and informal settings, leveraging interactive media, emerging technologies, and generative AI to enhance learning. Graduates will be prepared to analyze learner needs, apply instructional strategies, and design flexible, technology-enhanced learning environments for education, training, and professional development.

About the Final Project
As their final course, students take either the individual research project in an independent study format (thesis research) or the final project class in which students integrate the knowledge they have gained in the core curriculum in a project presented by the instructor. In both cases, students are guided by faculty in exploring the body of knowledge on information design and strategy while contributing research of practical value to the field. The capstone independent thesis project and capstone class project count as one unit of credit.
Pre-requisite: Students may take one other course simultaneously with MS_IDS 498-DL Capstone Project. All other course requirements must have been completed before the commencement of this course.
