In this course, students will assess emblematic ethical challenges in global health and consider approaches to addressing them.

From ancient scourges to modern pandemic, epidemics have shaped human society. Societal responses to infectious disease have varied wildly in time and across cultures. This course covers prominent global pandemics of the last two millennia, examining the biology of the disease, public health measures and historical outcomes, and the relationship between the scientific and the cultural consequences of these outbreaks.
