Sociological Studies Minor

The minor in sociological studies introduces basic information about the social world and provides the rudimentary tools to understand it. It prepares students to compare, evaluate, and critically analyze information about various institutions, processes of stratification, and social change.

SOCIOL 399-0 Independent Study may be taken more than once, but only 1 unit may count toward the minor.

SOCIOL 376-0 Topics in Sociological Analysis may count twice with department advisor approval if each course addresses different topics.

Students will be permitted to apply either 1 Chicago Field Studies (CFS) or 1 Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI) unit of credit to their 300-level course requirement, if an advisor deems the course academically sufficient.
